Overview
- Location
- Firelink Shrine, in the ruins to the right, in a room leading toward the Undead Parish shortcut lift.
- Access condition
- No special condition beyond reaching Firelink Shrine.
- Can die
- yes
- Death or hostility conditions
- Killing him before Rhea of Thorolund arrives at Firelink causes Rhea and her bodyguards to attack the player on sight. Killing him after Rhea has been rescued may cause her to disappear from the playthrough entirely. Attacking him at any point incurs sin.
- Keeps selling if hostile survives
- not documented
- Dialogue progression
- Initially presents as a helpful cleric. After the player speaks with Knight Lautrec, his dialogue reveals a betrayal arc: he disparages Rhea, dismissing her as of little worth without her family name, and shows he engineered her doom in the Catacombs. Becomes hostile if attacked once this is exposed, and openly admits to having deceived everyone around him.
- Relocates
- no
- Relocation note
- none recorded
- Note
- This is the Ledger's first documented NPC-betrayal questline -- see Rhea of Thorolund (not yet sourced) for the other half of this arc.
