Overview
- Location
- Four locations across the game, in sequence: (1) Sen's Fortress, in a hanging cage behind a Serpent Soldier; (2) Firelink Shrine, after being freed; (3) The Duke's Archives prison tower, imprisoned again and guarded by Pisacas; (4) The Duke's Archives library, after being freed a second time; (5) The Duke's Archives, Seath's Chamber, as a final hostile encounter after Seath is defeated.
- Access condition
- Sen's Fortress cage requires the Cage Key or Master Key. The Duke's Archives prison tower requires the Archive Tower Giant Cell Key (found in a chest behind removable bookshelves). Trading with him at Firelink initially requires 15 Intelligence; that requirement does not apply if he's instead met later at the Archives.
- Can die
- yes
- Death or hostility conditions
- Killing him at Sen's Fortress or Firelink yields no item drops. Only defeating him in his final hostile encounter at Seath's Chamber (Duke's Archives) drops items: the Big Hat, the Tin Crystallization Catalyst, and the White Dragon Breath spell. If the player defeats Seath before ever rescuing Logan, he is teleported directly to that final hostile state. Killing him before the madness sequence triggers prevents the Big Hat's Set and the Logan's Catalyst treasure chest from ever appearing.
- Keeps selling if hostile survives
- not applicable -- his final state is a mandatory fight, not a recoverable hostility
- Dialogue progression
- After his full inventory is purchased at the Archives library and Seath is defeated, repeated conversation reveals escalating mental deterioration -- confusion about the player's identity and paranoid warnings to stay away from his work -- culminating in him going irreversibly hostile at Seath's Chamber -- a mandatory fight, not an avoidable hostility state.
- Relocates
- yes
- Relocation note
- Sen's Fortress (caged) -> Firelink Shrine (freed, sells sorceries) -> The Duke's Archives prison tower (caged again) -> The Duke's Archives library (freed, sells higher-tier sorceries) -> The Duke's Archives, Seath's Chamber (final hostile encounter, post-Seath).
